KemSU scientists have developed a system of expert assessment of lung cancer risk among coal mine workers

09.11.2022 | 11:10

A network of interacting genes that determine the risk of malignancy among Kuzbass coal mine workers has been identified. 500 people working in the coal industry were surveyed. Automated disease risk assessment systems for workers in other industries are currently being developed based on machine learning technologies. The focus will be on the complex of human hearing loss caused by occupational noise exposure. According to statistics, the rate of occupational sensorineural hearing loss in some industries is up to 35-40%. KemSU scientists plan to develop a system for predicting sensorineural hearing loss and implement it in the real sector of the Kuzbass economy. This approach will modernise the health care system for industrial workers and bring it up to date with genomic medicine.
