New student campus gets governmental support

Government will support the project of new campuses in Kuzbass”, said Igor Shuvalov during his working visit to Kemerovo State University on May 20. Igor Shuvalov is the Chairman of VEB.RF, a state corporation and an institute of national development that promotes the implementation of socio-economic policy. He held a meeting with Sergey Tsivilyov, the Governor of Kuzbass, and Alexander Prosekov, the Rector of Kemerovo State University, at the Institute of E-Learning at Kemerovo State University. Igor Shuvalov also answered the questions of students from Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk, who presented their concepts of urban transformation. Director Artyom Rada presented the geoinformation system GIS-Kuzbass, developed by his Institute. The system provides up-to-date geospatial information about various locations in the region to be used for project development, management, and analysis by regional and municipal authorities. According to Governor Tsivilev, the system has already proved its effectiveness. There are 380 large social construction sites in Kuzbass, and GIS-Kuzbass makes it possible to supervise the construction in real time. Rector Prosekov presented the large-scale project of new campuses in Sheregesh and Kemerovo. The Kemerovo campus will be worth 4.2 bln rubles. It will include 7 new premises for 5,000 employees and students. Igor Shuvalov agreed that Kuzbass needs a new campus. It was decided to organize a team that will address the issue of building new campuses in Kemerovo, Sheregesh, and Novokuznetsk.
