About the Station :

The Azhendarovo biological station was founded on the basis of the Chaika Research Station (opened in 1976).

It is a field station consisting of 5 summer houses and a demi-season one; a laboratory, a bathhouse and a summer kitchen. The maximum capacity is 32 people. There is a direct access to the Tom River. The station is supplied mainly by inland waterways.Three main work directions include scientific, educational and biomonitoring services.

  1. Research direction: 1976: in the floor of the future Krapivinsk reservoir, comprehensive biocenological monitoring studies were initiated. When the reservoir was 80% completed, the monitoring studies were adjusted to research changes of small mammal fauna in the overgrown cut-over area of dark coniferous forest. Now biostation aims to:
    • study of perching birds migration;
    • monitoring of teriofauna against the background of changes in anthropogenic load;
    • assessment of the piscifauna state under the anthropogenic load impact;
    • study the role of birds and mammals in the maintenance of natural focal infections;
    • assess vulnerable species populations (the ones, who can be registered in the Red List of Kuzbass).
  2. Educational direction: Every year, biology students of KemSU do a field internship at the biostation. Students master modern and classical techniques of field studies in zoology, botany and ecology areas; techniques of enumeration, identification, gathering of plants and animals; methods of field processing of material and get to know faunal and floral diversity of the region.
  3. Biomonitoring services: Provision of various services on a contractual basis in the field of biomonitoring and bioecology.

Services

In accordance with the charter, KemSU has the right to conduct research and development commissioned by legal entities and individuals on the basis of civil law contracts.

    The Azhendarovo Biological Station provides following research services:

  2. development and organization of biomonitoring studies;
  3. assessment of the damage caused to animals during the liquidation of natural communities;
  4. ecological and ornithological research of the aerodrome environs;
  5. winter route records of hunting animals;
