Teacher education (Geography)

Description

We developed the program taking into account students’ professional intentions, the requirements of the regional labor market, and the prospects for the education development in our region. Our graduates get in-depth fundamental and professional training. The program allows expanding and specifying knowledge in geography and geography education. It prepares graduates to work in vocational and specialized education. Our graduates are ready to design programs and syllabuses in geography. We welcome practitioners and prospective employers, which makes the program more practice-oriented. The main areas of students’ research are theory and methods of geography teaching, geographical education, geo-ecology, recreational geography and tourism, socio-economic geography of Russia and foreign countries, and ethnogeography. Our students do research supported by grants, including those of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, Russian Humanitarian Science Foundation, Russian Geographical Society. They take part in international and regional conferences and expeditions. Our students are winners of All-Russian Student Olympiads in Geography. Graduates who have completed the program can work in general, secondary general education, vocational and additional education, and continue research. Our graduates work in schools, lyceums and gymnasiums, universities, colleges and technical schools, museums, the government of Kuzbass and the Public Chamber of the Kemerovo region.
