    What do translators and interpreters do?
  • They provide cross-linguistic and cross-cultural communication in various professional fields;
  • translate various texts in the field of research and popular science, official, business and technical documents, media texts, fiction, etc.
  • render materials in different languages;
  • translate materials for localization;
  • perform consecutive and simultaneous interpretation of business negotiations, conference speeches, interviews, etc.;
    Curriculum:
  • general philological and special translation disciplines;
  • computer-assisted translation and simultaneous interpreting in modern language labs;
  • general linguistics: theoretical phonetics, lexicology, stylistics, etc.;
  • literature, culture, and history of English-, German- and French-speaking countries;
  • practical language disciplines: practical courses of the first (English) and second (French / German) foreign languages, workshops on the culture of speech communication of the first and second foreign languages, etc.
  • translation theory: fundamentals of scientific and technical translation; practical courses of translation and interpreting of the first and second foreign languages in special areas, etc.
    Where do interpreters and translators work?
  • translation bureaus or agencies,
  • international departments / foreign relations departments;
  • organizations and enterprises engaged in various international and foreign economic activities;
  • mass media;
  • state and municipal institutions,
  • information and analytical services of foreign and Russian companies.

    The Institute of Philology, Foreign Languages and Media Communications is equipped with:

  • language laboratories;
